BlueLena Roundtable (March 2022)

This month's client roundtable featured a fantastic presentation from Kyle Villemain, Founder and Publisher of The Assembly NC and Rusty Coats, Executive Director of Journalism Funding Partners. Their two organizations have joined together in an ambitious plan to raise $3M from individual donors and foundations over the next two years. With this funding, the money will allow for the hiring of 22 new full-time reporter positions at The Assembly. That funding will sustain the positions for two years, after which The Assembly will assume the costs of maintaining the jobs.  Beyond the privilege to support the work of The Assembly, BlueLena has been so impressed by Kyle’s vision that we included him among our five new media organizations to follow in 2022.  It was our pleasure to welcome him along with Rusty Coats, the executive director of Journalism Funding Partners, a national nonprofit that has joined forces with The Assembly to help raise these funds while serving as its fiscal sponsor.
